Similarities of situations that are handled by an executive and a high performance athlete

I’ve proved time and again that my experiences and knowledge from working in competitive sports can be readily transferred to the relevant business context.

Both athletes and executives operate in an environment of high expectations from their work. Both are in the spotlight and the consequences of their decisions are immediately visible to the outside world. In addition, both must have a large number of self-proclaimed experts, and they have to deal with their different views of the current situation. Hence, in both fields there exist similar challenges that need to be overcome.

What happens in sports can also be applied in our daily lives, since even in our professional life we experience several situations that are similar to a race. So why should we not use the lessons learned from sports in our professional lives?

Coaching in job-specific situations

Meanwhile, there are many different views and experiences of what coaching is and what it can do. Coaching has become socially acceptable and is increasingly recognized in the corporate context as a method used for staff development.

What is Coaching?

Coaching is the most effective method for the timely activation of dormant potential. Coaching is the method of choice when it comes to extending the personal area of influence.

In the use of Coaching as a method of personality development, it does not depend on which personality traits a client has, but rather on which personality traits that he needs to have to achieve the goal that he pursues. It is a principle, where the objective of the customer determines the choice of the method. A particular method is optimal if it creates the greatest impact.
