From my work in high performance sport, I know that there are situations in which one must be in top shape - and in full possession of his physical and mental strength. Not before, not after, but in the race itself.
A race is very similar to a negotiation, and often you have high expectations, but only one chance. Negotiations require full concentration over the entire time.
